New mosque 2 blocks from Ground Zero?

Posted on Friday, Jun 4th, 2010 at 11:27am by SteveNoble

The 100 million dollar mosque & cultural center will be built just two blocks from Ground Zero.  Is that offensive to you or a step in the right direction for diversity & tolerance?  Does it dishonor those who died on 9/11 or is it somehow a "good thing"?

What do I think?  I think it's offensive and purposeful and sends a loud message to radical Muslims all over the world that America is ripe for the picking...but that's just me.  Am I just another intolerant, angry, white, Bible-thumping male?  Hmmm...

GROUND ZERO MOSQUE

Our nation's demise is going to be under the guise of 'tolerance'. Tolerance in America is anything that has to do with anything/anyone under a faith OTHER THAN Christianity.

I am in class with my

I am in class with my students. We are discussing this for current events. Here are some of the comments of my middle and high school students.

"I think this is ridiculous. Building the mosque is completely disrespectful to all the Americans that were killed in 9/11. " Taylor

"This is an outrageous slap in the face to this whole country.I am shocked that they would even think to recommend this project, especially two blocks away from the 9/11 memorial." GoVan

"What is Bloomberg thinking? Oh, I forget... he's an idiot. He has no principles on which to stand, nor does he have a spine. How did he obtain that office? Is his life being threatened that he so blatantly agrees with the Islamic terrorists? Forget about being political-MAN UP!!!" Jo

love it!

I can't tell you how encouraging it is to see that some youth get the obvious problem with this atrocity.

No, No, and Yes

To answer your questions in order. No, it is not offensive and I don't think it has anything to do with diversity or tolerance. No it does not dishonor anyone. And yes you are another intolerant, angry, white, Bible-thumping male. But just like I respect your right to have your opinions and radical Christian beliefs, I believe that the freedom that I served to protect gives all people in America the right to have a place to worship whatever religion they so choose. Just like you are (hopefully) in the minority of Christians who preach hatred of other religions, those who committed the vile act against America, and everyone who lost their lives on 9/11, are also in the minority and their actions should not be held against other AMERICAN citizens who happen to have different beliefs than you. I too am a intolerant, angry, white male. But my intolerance is for people like you hide under the vail of Christianity to further your hatred of others. To me you are not much different than those you you actually preach against

this is not hatred.. to understand the truth

It is not hatred to understand the truth. You are in over your head when you comment that Steve is intolerant and hateful.

in this world and what Islam plans for us.

Ground Zero Mosque

Dear John, I rather like being called a "radical" Christian. Jesus was radical too. I don't hate Muslims. I feel compassion for them. Many are following the faith they grew up in. Islamics all over the world are showing that they want more than a place to worship. They want Sharia law and control over their people which will negate the freedoms we have in America that you so bravely defended. Thank you,John, for your service. We are going to be needing people with your experience in the days to come.

Mosque

Building a mosque anywhere in the US shows tolerance, but do we really want to tolerate a religion that preaches that unbelievers should either convert or be eliminated? Is that what we want in our midst? It would seem that in our "tolerance", we are dismissing our own rights to believe what we choose. That is, to allow other groups (who are not so tolerant)to move in, take root in a community, then dictate what we are to believe else we die. Maybe we need to look more carefully into what we are allowing into our communities, whether they are a monument or not.

Ground Zero Mosque

It is clear that we can no longer have confidence in our corrupt government. We can only depend upon the truth from God and His inspired Word written in scripture. Now that is solid as a rock !

This is SO wrong...

This is just SO wrong.....

Friends,
Please go to www.rushradio945.com and use the link > Morning Rush and hear the podcast interview with Walid Shoebat. He is a former PLO activist and now is a born again christian speaking out about the truth of Islam.
google his name to learn more about his message.
It is very, very important to understand the aims of Islam.
We must not close our eyes to the truth.

Now you Christians know how

Now you Christians know how we atheists feel every time we have to see a church on property it isn’t paying any taxes on. And all you people who are against separation of church and state are a bunch of hypocrites. You want the state to be separate from all the churches except yours. How would you people feel if the state decided to adopt Islam as the official religion of the United States? You’d be just as supportive of separation of church and state as I am. Wake up people. Separation of church and state is a good thing for all of us.

Ground Zero Mosque

The building of any mosque in America concerns me,having watched what is happening in Germany, France, Great Britain and Canada. But if it hastens the coming of the Messiah(Jesus, just so we're clear) I would have to say that I'm for it!
